Bio
Kari Margolis is Co-Founder and Artistic Director with Tony Brown of Margolis Brown Company since 1984. Ms. Margolis has directed and co-authored 10 evening-length productions for the Company which have toured nationally and internationally. Over the last 20 years, Ms. Margolis has developed Margolis Method, a unique physical and vocal approach to actor training. She is master teacher at the Company-run professional training program, teaches in the Masters of Fine Arts program in the University of Minnesota's Department of Theatre and Dance, and has taught master classes throughout the United States and internationally. Ms. Margolis also works as a guest director and has served on numerous art panels in the Twin Cities and nationally including three years on the National Endowment for the Arts Professional Theatre Company panel and has been an NEA site-reporter for 10 years. Ms. Margolis' work has been recognized with six National Endowment for the Arts theater fellowships and other prestigious awards including a PEW/TCG National Residency Fellowship, McKnight National Fellowship through the Minnesota Dance Alliance, a "Bessie" New York Dance and Performance Award, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and a Jerome Travel Grant.
