Saskia Janse is a co-founder of Speeltheater Holland, a traveling theatre company based in Edam, Holland. Founded in 1976, the company performs theatre for children using a combination of acting and puppetry. Their performances range in size from plays using one to three actors to larger-scale productions. Their productions Perô or The Mysteries of the Night and Apple to Grandma played in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and the Sundance Festival in Utah. Nicky Somewhere Else had very successful runs in New York and Seattle. Speeltheater Holland has received many prizes (two oeuvre prizes and several prizes for productions). The group is subsidized by the Dutch government and is one of the largest and most prestigious puppet theatre companies for children in Holland.
